Veterans Fishing Weekends

Tournament Information: 30 days prior to the tournament Captains and Veterans/Active Duty participants will be contacted by tournament volunteers.

7 day prior to the tournament information will sent via text or email.  We recognize the weather and seas state forecast can change. Final weather calls will be made Thursday AM prior to the tournament.

Tournament Dinner:  Is held at 6 PM, Friday night prior at the Water Way Inn, 160 Cedar Point Blvd, Cedar Point, NC 28584.  If participants cannot attend the diner we ask they inform tournament officials.  At the dinner, we will review tournament rules, Captains will be introduced to the Veterans/Active Duty fishermen.  Dinner Menu fresh brats, beans, chips, and coleslaw.  We will also provide drinks and lunch for the following day of fishing.

Tournament BBQ: Is held at 4 PM,  the day of the tournament  at the Water Way Inn.

Tournament Fishing Rules (Captains Choice)

1.  Captains determine start time, departure point, bait (artificial, cut or live), and fishing location. Captains are required to follow North Carolina fishing regulations.

2.   Captains must have their fish back to Water Way Inn by 3:30 to be measured by tournament officials and or follow live release requirements.

3.    Live Release Requirements Captains / Veterans sending pictures must ensure the tape measure is behind the fish. The tape measure, fish, and poker chip (provided)  must be clearly displayed.  Send the pictures via text (910) 358 5980.  Ensure to include the Captains name with the picture.  Once received, tournaments officials will respond with approval and Official fish length.  Ensure to check with Officials back at the Water Way Inn at 3:30 PM

4.    Speckled Trout “Release over 20” is encouraged by Tournament Officials.  Maintaining our fisheries is very important, we encourage the practice of release over 20” to Veteran Anglers is important.

5.  Bragging Rights!  The goal of the tournament is to show support for those who have and are currently serving.  The longest fish of the Species listed will be recognized:  Speckled Trout, Weak Fish/Grey Trout, Red Drum, Founder, Spanish Mackerel, Blue Fish, King Mackerel, Atlantic Bonito (Spring Tournament), False Albacore (Fall Tournament), and Amberjack.   

Inshore Slam (Flounder, Red Drum, and Trout longest total length).

6. Special Prizes for longest Lizard Fish.

7.  There will be a prize table for the winning Capts to select their prize from. 

8.  We understand if some of the crew cannot make it back for the BBQ, please encourage all to come back and enjoy the fellowship.

Sponsorship Recognition:

Please take these donated items on the boat with you the next day and take action photos, group photos, so that we can send them to the sponsors.   We will recognize the best action photo, best sponsor photo at the end of the tournament. Text pictures to Joe Yager @ 910 358 5980.
